Cigar Box Art, Sculptures and Installations (prices excl:S/H)
In the Conceptual Art-form: Cigar Box Art and small installations I create sceneries or compositions that could invite the viewer to create his own stoty.
Some of them are supposed to be funny, others have a philosophical message and some are combinations thereof. This format allows the viewer to take the box in his hands and look at it from different perspectives. Sculptures, Installations and Cigar box art is an expression form in the tradition of Conceptual Art developed at the end of the 1960s.Conceptual art is characterized by the use of unconventiual materials and style forms and exploring the frontiers of what can still be called art.
I have found the materials used in Installations, Sculptures and 'Cigar Box Art' at thrift stores at garage sales etc. and from my own obsessive habit to keep everything........you may never know......
Key figures in this art movements are from Holland: Jan Dibbets and Ger van Elk (passed away August 18, 2014) and for Italy Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Emilio Prini and Gilberto Zorio. From France, Switzerland and Belgium: Tinguely, Marcel Duchamp and Yves Klein from the USA: Robert Rauschenberg, Calder, Oldenburg and Sol leWitt, and many many more.
